Electric motors are more successful and advantageous as compared to traditional engines. These motors are very reasonable and have less number of moving parts thereby having an extended life.
In addition, an electric motor is very efficient and has automatic functions. Also, they require a limited amount of maintenance. Even these motors do not need fuel to run perhaps no such engine oil or battery service is required.

- Receiving high amounts of heat is one of the top reasons for motor disfunction or failure. Exposure to optimal temperature leads to a longer lifespan of an electric motor.
- In addition to that if your electric motor functions abnormally due to other issues it can also lead to generation of excessive heat which again causes increased chances of motor failure.
- If the electric motor is exposed to 10°C heat or more than that then it will damage your electric motor.
Damage due to dust particles :
- It is often advised to keep your electric motors away from dust particles and other contaminants because even the slightest of dust can destroy them.
- Presence of dust and other pollutants can destroy the parts of the electric motor and can lead to its abnormal functioning.
- It could either lead to corrosion or abrasion of electric motor parts and disrupt the current running inside it.
Presence of moisture :
- In a basic electrical component, involvement of moisture can result in damage of that particular component but when we talk about electric motors, the presence of moisture can have extreme consequences.
- When particles present in air mix with moisture it leads to the formation of highly corrosive substances that directly hampers the lifespan of electric motors.
- Make sure to store your motors in a safe place when you are not using them, else coming in contact with moisture will completely destroy it.
- One of the major reasons behind electric motor failure is low resistance and it is the most complicated one to overcome. Low resistance is caused due to overheating of parts, corrosion or other physical damages.
- This disturbs the isolation between motor windings and conductors which can result in short circuits and leakages thereby leading to motor failure.
- The only possible solution to low resistance is to keep a check on signs of wear and tear of the motor and should be immediately replaced as and when required.
Failure due to vibration :
- When your electric motor starts to vibrate it can further lead to other issues and destroy the motor permanently.
- The main reason behind vibration is non-positioning of the motor or the motor being placed on a bumpy surface. In addition to that it can also cause loose bearings, corrosion and uneven alignment of the motor.
- In order to protect your motor from vibration, you must inspect your motor regularly through a motor examining tool. Also, make sure to place your motor on a flat surface and avoid any such unstable surfaces.
